As San Marcos Elementary School families and students get ready for the school year, the Movement family is thrilled to be partnering with them for our 5th annual back-to-school drive benefiting our neighbors who live at or below the poverty line.
Within this last year, the poverty line has risen from 2% to 8% meaning more families are struggling to provide essentials for their children.
This year, our goal is to have 220 backpacks that will be distributed to 3 schools in our community.A donation of $35 funds and fully stocks a brand new backpack and lunch box for one student.
One of the families that we have been able to help is a family with nine children, all in elementary, middle or high school. We have been able to provide backpacks for them these past few years. If we had not helped, some of their children did not want to go to school because of not having a new backpack like the rest of the children. As small as this may seem, it’s making a difference. This is just one of the many families — there are so many more stories.
We invite you to join us in the courtyard between services on August 4th for the Stuffing Party, where we will fill the backpacks with everything those students will need for the school year!
Let’s ensure every child starts the year with confidence!
