EASTER SUNDAY – Patrick Lynch

1 Now after the Sabbath, near dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 And a great earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone [from the opening of the tomb], and sat on it. 3 The angel’s appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were as white as snow. 4 The guards shook, paralyzed with fear [at the sight] of him and became like dead men [pale and immobile]. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6 He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said [He would]. Come! See the place where He was lying.

– MATTHEW 28:1-6

THE POWER OF RESURRECTION IS A PERSON

17 So when Jesus arrived, He found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away; 19 and many of the Jews had come to see Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning [the loss of] their brother. 20 So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet Him, while Mary remained sitting in the house. 21 Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give to You.” 23 Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise [from the dead].” 24 Martha replied, “I know that he will rise [from the dead] in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I AM the RESURRECTION and the LIFE.

– JOHN 11:17-25

4 The guards shook, paralyzed with fear [at the sight] of him and became like dead men [pale and immobile].

– JOHN 11:17

– JOHN 10:10

THE PURPOSE OF RESURRECTION IS FOR PROOF

But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified (HE DIED AND WAS BURIED). 6 He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said [He would]. Come! See the place where He was lying

READ: MATTHEW 28:5-6; MATTHEW 28:2; MATTHEW 11:28

Where are you experiencing less than Jesus promise of enjoying life to the point of abundance?

Where are you feeling weary and burdened? Less than a rest refreshing your soul that is only found in Him?

PRAY:
Father, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to pay for, serve the sentence of sin and defeat death for me. You have done all of this for me to have more life than sin promotes. Today, I ask you to take all of the burden of sin from my life and overwhelm me with the overflowing joy and life you created me for.
Amen!
