What Really Counts?

14 As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. 15 It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. 16 May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God.

– GALATIANS 6:14-16

  1. THE DECLARATION OF A NEW CREATION

9 It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 And immediately, coming up [c]from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove. 11 Then a voice came from heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

– MARK 1:9

1 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, 2 where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry. 3 Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.” 4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.’”

– LUKE 4:1-4

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!

– 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17

31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

– JOHN 8:31-32
  1. THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW CREATION

22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

– EPHESIANS 4:22-23

12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. 14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

ASK: Where am I struggling too detach from my old nature and declare my new nature as a new creation?

PRAY: God, thank you for making me a new creation. You have gone before me as a symbol of freedom I am able to live according to as a son/daughter of God. Forgive me for holding onto old nature pains. I lay them all down at the cross for them to be crucified along side my old nature that is dead. Today, I choose to walk in the reality of being a new creation! Amen!
